GOAMOGO

Navigation platform for pet-friendly restaurants, cafes, and eco-conscious living

In South Korea, the rapid rise in pet ownership has created demand for pet-friendly restaurants and cafes. Unlike in the U.S., where such venues are more common, Korea still lacks accessible and clearly marked pet-friendly spaces. This gap inspired me to create GOAMOGO, an app that helps users easily locate pet-friendly restaurants and cafes while also introducing them to the sustainable and nutritional benefits of insect-based dog kibble.

I began this project by identifying two key problems: 1. the challenge of navigating pet-friendly spaces in South Korea, 2. the growing need for eco-conscious pet living. To address the first, I explored existing solutions like Naver Place’s feature ‘갈 수 있어 강아지도’ (translation: ‘Dogs can go too’), which is integrated into Naver Maps but limited to a simple list view that makes discovery difficult.

For the second, I reached out to Korean pet food companies promoting insect-based kibble, exploring how eco-friendly nutrition could be introduced as part of the Goamogo experience.

For the location navigation flow, my goal was to create an interface that felt intuitive and lightweight on mobile. Using SwiftUI (MVVM and MapKit), I designed a clean map-based experience where pet owners could quickly browse, and access details (link to social etc) about pet-friendly spots without the clutter of list-only formats.

I designed the sustainable kibble feature to introduce pet owners to insect-based pet food as a highly nutritious and environmentally friendly alternative. Acknowledging potential skepticism, I used a playful, Lego-inspired color palette and visual style to make the concept feel accessible and engaging. The goal was to create an experience that frames sustainability as approachable and appealing, encouraging exploration rather than relying on guilt-based messaging.

Through GOAMOGO, I learned how to identify and frame problems by combining cultural context with market research, from pet-friendly navigation gaps in South Korea to the rise of eco-conscious pet care. The project strengthened my skills in user research, and SwiftUI prototyping while also teaching me how to make complex, unfamiliar ideas, like insect-based kibble, feel approachable through thoughtful branding and user experience design.
